It is used for the restoration of old documents.
“Natural shade” TENGU is baked with SODIUM CARBONATE. Among the different varieties of Japanese Paper TENGU, the fibers of this variety are the strongest and hence are widely used for restoration purposes. With unbleached paper, any remaining impurities on the paper surface are usually removed entirely by hand. Depending on where the cocoon was grown or the specific processing methods, the color and feel of the paper will be different, suggesting that the unbleached character of the paper is suitable for older documents.
