“Gamblin Conservation Colours” are the result of an in-depth study aimed at the identification of retouching colours characterized by the best resistance to oxidation and deterioration. They are composed of the most stable aldehyde resin, Laropal A81, and pigments with Lightfastness Class I, the highest rating in ASTM D-4302, which measures the stability of colours and pigments. Their low toxicity is related to the type of solvents used: aliphatic hydrocarbons and isopropyl alcohol.
