PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Barium Hydrate octahydrate is widely used as a consolidant for plasters and wall paintings. Barium Hydroxide reacts with carbon dioxide to form Barium Carbonate, a salt almost insoluble in water, which gives the consolidating effect. Besides, it reacts with Calcium Sulphate (CaSO4), which is present on frescoes as an efflorescence, to form Barium Sulphate (BaSO4), an extremely insoluble salt.
